Unravel Two

After eyeing the game up for years, during a recent eShop sale I finally picked up Unravel Two, not being able to resist its incredible discount of 80%. Playable solo for sure, it is a game that has clearly been built around co-op and with my sister now owning a Switch herself, it seemed an ideal game for us to play together, even if we only see eachother now once a month or so.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order

For a good hree years now, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 has been on my wish list. As a Nintendo Switch exclusive, it rarely sees a price drop and with Marvel being such a hot property, you can understand why. Finally last month though I was able to snag it in an eShop sale and, after some initial reservations about the game, it’s fair to say I am now well and truly hooked.

Life Is Strange: True Colors

I’ve been wanting to play the Life is Strange series for a long time now, but particularly since it was announced last summer that ports would be arriving on Switch. Following a surprise price-cut, the latest game, True Colors, appeared in my birthday stash this year and after receiving a hand-me-down 49″ TV from my parents, this past weekend I finally booted it up. Containing everything I look for in a single-player game: narrative, choices, emotion; did it live up to the hype?

Dragon Ball FighterZ

Despite enjoying the demo and picking up Dragon Ball Fighterz in a sale, after a few practise sessions displaying an embarrassing lack of skill it was relegated to the back-burner for the past two years or so. Finally, with my gaming backlog dwindling, I have decided to give it a second chance and I am definitely glad that I did.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus – Played

I never buy games on launch day, especially Pokémon games, but after seeing it discounted to £34.99 I just had to bite. Marking a huge departure from the traditional style of the series, Pokemon Legends Arceus was a risky move, but one I feel has 100% paid off. This game is great and frighteningly addictive.

2021 Nintendo Switch Year in Review

Following on from my previous Spotify Wrapped blog post, Nintendo have now revealed my play statistics in a similar fashion for my Switch. Unlike with the 3DS, these statistics are no longer readily available on the console itself so receiving this information at the end of the year really does feel like a gift, even if it does reveal things best not shared with others…

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – Sora & Kingdom Hearts

So after three years, the roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is complete, with the addition of Kingdom Hearts’ Sora on the 19th. Am I happy with this final fighter? Despite never playing a game in the series, I am. Would I have preferred Crash Bandicoot or Lara Croft? Possibly, but having now played as Sora for a bit, I can fairly say he is a great conclusion to what has been an epic ride.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled

Given my frequent posting about Nintendo games, you may be forgiven for thinking I have always been a die-hard fan. In fact, my first two consoles were the PlayStation 1 and 2, and as such I have a greater affinity towards Crash Bandicoot than I do Mario. As kids, me and my sister spent hours battling it out in Crash Team Racing, so you can imagine my elation when hearing about the remake coming to all consoles, my beloved Switch included.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus

After being announced back in February, we were treated to a more in-depth look at Pokémon Legends: Arceus on Wednesday, ahead of its release on 28th January. Steering the Pokémon series in a fresh direction, the initial trailer looked a bit rough to say the least, yet with plenty of promise. With just five months now until launch, I am pleased to say the game is looking far more refined, raising my hype levels to fever pitch.
