With 2018 behind us and February 2019 creeping ever closer, many companies begin to issue statistics and figures surrounding the holiday season, and previous year as a whole. Rather than dull you with monetary prowess, Google have created a game, extracting data from the billions of searches made over the past year to test your knowledge of 2018’s fads and trends. InDesign – Paste Remembers Layers
Working in the publishing industry, InDesign is one of my go-to programs, used frequently in the layout and print-preparation of hundreds of books. The company I work for specialises in dual-language children’s books and thus it is not uncommon for one file to contain many layers, each bearing a different language. Having to replicate this content between files is an arduous process. Thankfully after some research, I found it is possible to paste between documents with layer information intact.
New Year Tree – ABD Architects
Whereas the majority of countries decorate their trees at Christmas, in Russia and Turkey it is a New Year tradition. Russian firm ABD Architects have converted this celebration into an online construction game, where you can build your own custom tree as you welcome in 2019.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – Visuals
After the massive hype leading up to its December release and thereafter, I finally got my own copy of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Christmas. Hands-down this is one of the most content heavy games I’ve owned, already plowing in 30+ hours to unlock the 76 characters. With such a vast amount to cover I have opted to focus on the graphical variations between previous entries in the series and this. Let battle commence!
